Acceptance and eligibility
By accessing or using Care Beyond Canada, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the member or submission features.
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms. A person who has not reached the age of majority where they live may use an account or submit identifying information only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian. A guardian who permits that use is responsible for supervising it.
Community information, not professional or emergency advice
Care Beyond Canada shares lived experiences, advocacy requests, and links to outside resources. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical, legal, financial, emergency, or other professional advice. Information may not apply to your circumstances and should not replace advice from a qualified professional.
If you or another person may be in immediate danger or needs urgent care, contact the appropriate local emergency service or crisis provider. Do not wait for a response from a website form.
Accounts and security
Some features require a verified account. You must provide accurate account information, protect access to your email and device, and promptly report suspected unauthorized use. One person may not create accounts or signatures for other people without authority.
Care Beyond Canada may suspend or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or enforce these terms. You may request account deletion from My Account, subject to the review and limited-retention process described in the Privacy Policy.
Your submissions and permission to operate the service
You keep the rights you hold in stories, photographs, comments, petitions, and other material you submit. You are responsible for its accuracy, lawfulness, permissions, and the safety of every person identified in it.
When you submit material for publication, you grant Care Beyond Canada a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, format, moderate, and display that material as reasonably necessary to operate and secure the website. This licence does not transfer ownership. It ends when the content is withdrawn or removed, except for limited backup, moderation, legal, or security copies retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
You must have permission for photographs, private information, copyrighted material, and content involving another person. Identifying content about a child requires appropriate guardian authority and must follow the separate consent controls in the submission form.
Petitions and signatures
A petition creator must accurately identify the recipient, requested action, context, signature model, and any official external destination. Petitions hosted on Care Beyond Canada collect one authenticated signature per eligible account and show only the verified total. Linked petitions collect support only on their external website; Care Beyond Canada does not copy or combine the external supporter total.
A signature expresses support for the displayed version of a request. It does not guarantee delivery, response, policy change, funding, medical access, or any other result. Petition creators and supporters may not use automation, duplicate identities, deception, coercion, or another person’s name without permission.
Acceptable use
You may not use Care Beyond Canada to break the law; threaten, exploit, harass, or discriminate; impersonate another person or organization; expose private information; make deceptive fundraising or medical claims; upload malicious code; probe or disrupt the service; evade moderation or security controls; scrape personal information; or infringe intellectual-property rights.
Use the website in good faith and follow the detailed Community Guidelines.
Moderation and removal
Stories, photographs, and petitions are reviewed before publication. Comments may be reviewed after posting. Care Beyond Canada may request changes, reject, limit, close, withdraw, preserve, or remove content or accounts that appear unsafe, unlawful, inaccurate, misleading, unauthorized, technically harmful, or inconsistent with these terms.
Moderation is performed with reasonable care but cannot guarantee that every issue will be found immediately. Report concerns through the contact page. Care Beyond Canada may preserve evidence and cooperate with lawful investigations when required.
External services, donations, and resources
External links are provided for convenience and awareness. Care Beyond Canada does not operate GoFundMe, Change.org, news organizations, meeting providers, or listed resources and does not process donations made through those services. Their terms, privacy practices, eligibility rules, fees, and security controls apply.
Care Beyond Canada does not guarantee an external service’s availability, accuracy, safety, outcome, or continued destination. Review the destination before providing information, signing, registering, or donating.
Care Beyond Canada material and intellectual property
The Care Beyond Canada name, branding, original page design, code, illustrations, and editorial material are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Stories, photographs, logos, articles, and linked materials may belong to their contributors or other owners.
You may use the website for personal, lawful, non-commercial purposes. Do not copy, republish, sell, alter, or exploit personal stories, photographs, branding, or substantial website content without permission or a legal right to do so.
Availability, disclaimers, and limits
The website is provided on an “as available” basis. Care Beyond Canada works to keep information and features accurate, safe, and available, but cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free content, a particular outcome, or that every external listing remains current.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Care Beyond Canada is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or external-service losses arising from use of the website. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded. You remain responsible for decisions made using website information and for activity conducted through your account.
Changes, interpretation, and contact
These terms are governed by the applicable laws of Canada and the applicable laws of the province or territory in which Care Beyond Canada operates, without limiting mandatory consumer protections where you live. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver.
Material changes will be posted with a new effective date and, where appropriate, presented through the account or submission flow. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
Use the Care Beyond Canada contact page for legal, copyright, safety, or terms questions. Choose “Privacy or data request” for a privacy matter.
