Community Guidelines

Care Beyond Canada is a place where families can be heard without sacrificing dignity, privacy, safety, or accuracy.

OUR STANDARDSLead with empathyProtect privacyShare responsiblyFundraising and petitionsModerationReport concerns

These standards apply to stories, comments, photographs, and other member participation on Care Beyond Canada.

Lead with empathy

Speak to families and community members with patience and respect. Personal attacks, harassment, threats, hate speech, humiliation, discrimination, and exploitation are not welcome.

Protect privacy and consent

Share only information and photographs you have the right and permission to share. Never publish another person’s address, medical record, contact details, financial information, or identifying information about a child without appropriate consent.

Do not enter urgent information into website forms. Use a pseudonym where appropriate and provide guardian consent before submitting identifying information or photographs involving a minor.

Share experiences responsibly

Personal experiences are welcome, but they should not be presented as medical instructions for another family. Clearly distinguish personal experience from verified information, avoid guaranteed treatment claims, and link to a credible source when making factual health or policy claims.

Fundraising and petitions

Fundraising descriptions should accurately identify who is being supported, how funds are expected to be used, and where donations are processed. Do not impersonate a family, organization, or professional.

Petition participation must be voluntary and made in good faith. Petition creators must identify the decision-maker, requested action, supporting context, and where signatures are collected. Linked petitions must use their official HTTPS destination. Do not add someone else’s name without permission or use automated, deceptive, or repeated signatures.

Moderation

Stories, photographs, and petitions are reviewed before publication; comments may be reviewed and removed after posting. Content or links that conflict with these guidelines may be rejected, limited, closed, withdrawn, or removed. Administrative access is restricted and does not replace careful human review. A linked petition’s destination also applies its own terms and policies.

Report a concern

If a story, external link, photograph, or resource appears unsafe, inaccurate, private, or improperly attributed, use the contact page and choose the most relevant topic. For urgent danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service rather than relying on this website.
